About Us
We don't scare straight, we communicate
Since its inception in 1964, the SQUIRES Youth Diversion Program has been steadfastly dedicated to empowering young individuals to make positive and constructive life choices through open dialogue, mentorship, and comprehensive education. Established at San Quentin State Prison (San Quentin Rehabilitation Center), SQUIRES is founded on a profound belief that those who have faced the serious consequences of poor decisions can offer invaluable insights and guidance to help steer others away from similar detrimental paths.
Today, SQUIRES transcends the traditional youth diversion program; it stands as a multifaceted leadership and personal development initiative that inspires participants to recognize their full potential, enhance their decision-making abilities, and ultimately emerge as positive and impactful contributors to their families and communities at large.
"We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations."
Charles R. Swindoll
